Angel Krita by peileppe Angel Krita by peileppe
First doodle with Krita
Since I'm running mint 13 KDE - I thought I'd try Krita, 1st impression - it's a bit confusing and some options doesn't make much sense - I'll have to find tutorials

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of tutorials for Krita just yet. What there is, is the Comics for Krita training DVD (which you can either buy, or download by torrent, legally as it's creative commons). There's also an excellent sticky thread in one of the forums (General Support?) on the hidden tricks and features in Krita that aren't immediately obvious (shit+drag to change brush size comes to mind).

Great sketch by the way (although there's something a bit funky about the thigh on his raised leg). Love the combo of what looks like a skull and wings... :)

Thanks, will try to get that DVD
I've tried to make a couple of painting - but can't find a brush that would have the look and feel of oil painting
The default settings of brushes are not intuitive and the Brush engine is so vast, there's so many options ... I've got the feeling it will take months to achieve a decent artwork

Ramon - I just found the answer in one of your youtube video [link]
The brushes and presets topic is now a bit clearer -- Thanks!

Thanks very much, basically what I'm having difficulty with is to select brushes via shortcut (if that's possible like in mypaint)
and on the top bar, I would like to have the brush size appearing directly instead of just "opacity" and "flow"
Also on that picture [link] the wheel has some brushes in it and I didn't find a way to add them in...

I think it will take time... from the first steps to be fluent with Krita
But my feeling is that the brush engine is way more powerful than what currently offer gimp or mypaint

This is to put the Size in the UI. [link]

Nice tips, that helps a lot.
I manage to get the presets in the wheel, it's a very good idea - putting colors and brushes accessible via right click.
